John Harris - Managing Director, Chief Wealth Officer

John Harris has over 26 years of investment management, trust, private banking, commercial lending and financial planning experience. John’s career highlights include positions as Senior Vice President/ Senior Lender and Private Banking Manager with Northern Trust Bank; First Vice President and County Wide Group Manager with SunTrust Bank. John has worked with the full array of affluent, and high net worth individuals, families, foundations and institutions.  He has a very value based and collaborative approach to the business. John very much enjoys working closely with his clients and their advisors in order to make sure that everyone’s collective efforts are aligned to meet the client’s over all objectives. John has extensive involvement with Florida based community and charitable organizations such as, The Real Property Probate Trust Law Section, The Elder Law Section and the Tax Section of the Florida Bar, The Florida Justice Association, The Dade Trial Lawyers, The Attorney Trust Officer Liaison, The Broward Estate Planning    Council, The Miami Estate Planning Counsel, The Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners, The Coral Gables Bar Association,  The Coral Gables Chamber, and the Georgetown Alumni Association.


Linda M. Haskins, CPA - Managing Director, Chief Operating Officer

Linda Haskins has over 34 years of business experience, including 9 years with KPMG Peat Marwick, 11 years in banking and 7 years in government.  Ms. Haskins served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of American Savings of Florida.  During her tenure as CFO, the market capitalization of American Savings was increased from $1.8 million at the end of 1990 to $252 million in 1995.  At American Savings Ms. Haskins was charged with the responsibility for all finance functions including Treasury, Financial Planning, Corporate Taxes, Investor Relations, Controller’s Division and Secondary Marketing. She acted as chairman of American Savings’ Asset/Liability Management Committee and was a member of the bank’s Executive Management, Credit, Pension Investment, and Corporate Policy, IS Steering, Senior Human Resources and Compliance Committees.  She has worked with CGTC as a consultant since May 2007.  Ms. Haskins was the District 2 Commissioner of the City of Miami in 2006 and prior to that the Deputy City Manager and Chief Financial Officer of the City of Miami.  Ms. Haskins holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Florida and is a certified public accountant.  Ms. Haskins resides in Coconut Grove, Florida.


Mason Williams - Managing Director, Chief Investment Officer

Mason Williams has over 12 years’ experience building investment strategies and managing institutional multi-asset class portfolios for high-net worth private clients, families and foundations. Mason’s recent experience has been in South Florida as the Chief Investment Officer for a Trust and Wealth Management division for a well-known community bank. In his capacity there Mr. Williams chaired the Asset Management Committee in charge of implementing portfolio strategy and allocation. Mason specializes in customizing portfolio solutions for high net worth individuals and families using an open architecture framework. Having a career fully dedicated to fiduciary investment services, Mason has extensive knowledge and experience in trust administration, compliance and business development. His academic training is in Finance with a Masters degree from the University of Miami and his B.S., from Arizona State University. Mason is an avid golfer has been involved with charitable organizations such as the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and Susan G. Komen Foundation. 

 

Richard DeNapoli, J.D., LL.M.,CFP® - Managing Director, Chief Trust Officer, Chief Fiduciary Counsel

Richard DeNapoli has over 12 years of experience in law and trust services.  He is a native of Hollywood, Florida, and a graduate of the University of Miami School of Law (2008, LL.M., Estate Planning), Fordham Law School (2002, J.D.) and New York University (1999, B.A., Politics; B.A. Italian). Richard's most recent experience was with Northern Trust where he was a Trust and Investment Officer for more than five years. Prior to joining Northern Trust, Richard practiced law successfully in his own Practice working with clients primarily on estate planning and real estate matters.

Richard is also a longtime member of the Real Property Probate and Trust Law Section of the Florida Bar.   

 

 Larry Riley - Senior Vice President

Larry Riley has over 42 years of experience in the financial services industry, specializing in portfolio management and trust administration. Larry was most recently with Northern Trust Bank in Miami for tenure of 26 years. Mr. Riley holds the professional investment designation of Chartered Financial Analyst.He earned an MBA degree from the University of Texas at the Permian Basin, and a B.S. degree from Ball State University. Larry served as founding president and board member of the local financial analyst society, CFA Miami.He also served as a board member of the South Florida analyst society in Palm Beach. Mr. Riley served as a board member of the Riverside House Christian Ministries and as an elder at Central PresbyterianChurch.He is currently serving on the alumni council at Ball State University.Larry held leadership roles in civic and charitable endeavors in Texas before he moved to Miami in 1988. 


  

Donald A. Kress - Senior Vice President and Chairman of Trust Administration Committee

Don retired from The Northern Trust Company in June of 2014 and is currently the sole managing member of Kress Consulting, LLC. Don joined the Miami, Florida office of The Northern Trust Company in October of 1998, and was the Bank’s Fiduciary Practice Leader for Miami-Dade and Broward Counties, Florida. He also acted as a senior trust administrator for a select group of high net worth clients. Prior to joining Northern Trust, he managed various teams of trust and investment professionals for First Chicago Bank in Chicago, Illinois for approximately 12 years. Don was Associate General Counsel of Miami Corporation, a private holding company based in Chicago, previous to his First Chicago experience. Don earned an AB in English Literature from Dartmouth College in 1967 and a JD from The University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1971. He also holds a CIMA designation.

Don is a member of the Board of Directors, and Vice President, of the Estate Planning Council of Greater Miami and is a member of the University of Miami Estate and Gift Planning Advisory Board. He is a member of the faculty of the Florida Trust Schools and was on the board and faculty of the American Bankers Association National Trust School, where he taught courses in trust administration for 8 years ending in 2002. Don is a member of the Board of Directors of The Vizcayans and is its treasurer. He is a trustee of the Vizcaya Museum & Gardens Trust; he is also a committee member of Miami’s Leave A Legacy program (which is a program of the Partnership for Philanthropic Planning). Don is also a member of the board of directors, and Vice President, of the Peacock Foundation. He has been admitted to the practice of law in the states of Illinois, Nebraska and New York.


Michael S. Carris, J.D., CFP® - Senior Vice President, Relationship Manager, Client Advisor

Michael S. Carris has over 44 years of fiduciary/trust advisor and investment/wealth management experience including, development and management of Special Needs Trusts, Trust and Estate Planning, and Trust, Credit and Investment Management services. Michael’s career highlights include positions as Sr. VP, Senior Trust Advisor and Wealth Strategist for Regions Private Wealth Management, Sr. VP & Sr. Special Needs Trust Advisor for Wachovia Trust, and VP, Relationship Manager/Fiduciary Specialist for NationsBank Private Client Group. Michael has worked with the full array of affluent, and high net worth individuals, families, foundations and endowments. He understands our client’s needs and works closely with our CGT team to help ensure our training and continued education of our Relationship Management Team meets and exceeds the highest standards. Michael has extensive involvement with Florida based community and charitable organizations such as, Corporate Fiduciary Association of Southeast Florida, Broward Estate Planning Council, West Broward Estate Planning Council, Greater Boca Raton Estate Planning Council, The Financial Planning Association™ and the Estate and Gift Planning Advisory Board/University of Miami.
 

Diana Batchelor - Vice President, Relationship Manager & Client Advisor

Diana Batchelor has over 16 years of trust administrative and trust advisor experience including, Special Needs Trusts, Personal Trusts, Individual Retirement Accounts, Investment Agency Accounts and Estates. Diane’s career highlights include positions as Vice President and Trust Officer at Regions Bank and Trust Officer and Trust Administrator at Wachovia Bank. Diana has worked with the full array of affluent, and high net worth individuals, families, foundations and endowments. She has a very value based and collaborative approach to working with Private Wealth Managers. Diana works closely with our clients to meet their overall objectives and our Coral Gables Trust team always ensuring proper implementation and a smooth work flow. Diana has extensive involvement with Florida based community and charitable organizations such as, the Broward Estate Planning Council and Florida Voice for Development Disabilities. She graduated from the University of Sarajevo in 1984 with a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture. Diana also completed the CFP program at Barry University.  

Eileen Santana, CFP ® -  Senior Vice President, Senior Relationship Manager

Eileen Santana is a Certified Financial PlannerTM with more than 15 years experience in the financial industry.  Eileen comes from the International Trust department of Northern Trust Bank of Florida.  She is an active member of the Financial Planning Association and serves on the United Way’s Young Leaders Executive Board.  A Miami resident, Eileen holds BBA and MBA degrees from the University of Miami.


Ivan Shegota, CTFA® - Senior Vice President, Relationship Manager & Client Wealth Advisor

Ivan Shegota, CTFA® brings to Coral Gables Trust over 10 years of ongoing trust administration and estate settlement experience having worked for some of the larger service providers in the industry. Most recently, he served as Assistant Vice President and Trust Officer for Citigroup’s Trust Administration Group, in Palm Beach, FL. Ivan has also served as Senior Trust Administrator for Merrill Lynch Trust Company, and as Trust Associate in Wachovia’s Legacy Management Advisors Group. He is very active in the communities in which he has worked. His present affiliation includes the East Coast Estate Planning Council, in West Palm Beach, FL; He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Florida and has also completed the educational portion of the Certified Financial Planning Program at Florida State University. He was an honors graduate in Cannon Financial Institute’s Trust School I, II & III Programs and obtained his Certified Trust and Financial Advisor designation through the American Bankers Association in 2008. Ivan resides with his wife, Jodi and 3 children in Boca Raton FL.


Maria E. Otero - Vice President, Relationship Manager

Maria Otero has 15 years of trust administration experience, having previously worked as Assistant Vice President and Trust Officer at Gibraltar Private Bank. A Miami resident, Maria graduated from Florida International University with a certification in Paralegal and from the University of South Florida, Florida Graduate Trust School. Maria is also a member of the Estate Planning Council of Miami.


Gerardo Rodriguez - Vice President, Investment Officer

Gerardo Rodriguez has over 16 years of Investment Management experience, managing ultra and high net worth Individuals, Institutions, and Family Offices. He has extensive experience in Trading, Research, Client Management, and Portfolio Management and has worked with such institutions as UBS International, Banco Santander International, EFG Capital International, and Banco Itau Europa, among others, where he specialized in Asset Allocation and Investment Analysis. He has a Bachelor's Degree and a Master's in Business Administration from Florida International University. Gerardo is involved with the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce and the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce. He is a cyclist and resides in South Miami with his wife, Lourdes and their 2 children.


 

Isabela Sanchez, CFP ® - Trust Officer

Isabela Sanchez joined Coral Gables Trust in 2012 as an intern and was brought on full time as a Trust Associate and promoted to Trust Officer in April of 2014. She Graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Miami with a BBA in Finance in 2012 and also completed New York University’s Certificate in Financial Planning program. In 2015, she successfully completed the second year at Florida Trust and Wealth Management School. Isabela is Certified Financial PlannerTM as well as Notary Public for the State of Florida. She currently resides with her husband in Miami, Florida.

 


 

Casey Byrnes, J.D. - Trust Officer

Casey Byrnes joined Coral Gables Trust in 2009 as an intern while studying finance at Florida International University. Upon graduating from FIU in 2010 with her Bachelor’ s Degree in Finance she joined the CGT team full time but ultimately decided to attend the University of Miami School of Law. While studying at UM she continued to intern at CGT. After receiving her Juris Doctorate in Spring 2014 and passing the Florida Bar, she re-joined CGT full time as a Trust Officer and Assistant Relationship Manager. Casey Byrnes currently resides in Miami, Florida.


 

Audrey Fernandez - Trust Intern

Audrey Fernandez is currently a sophomore at the University of Miami majoring in Political Science and Economics. She graduated from Coral Gables High School with an International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma. As a Trust Intern at Coral Gables Trust, she is able to work closely with Relationship Managers and their clients to learn how to ensure that their financial objectives are fully and efficiently reached.


 

Michelle Viteri - Trust Officer

Michelle Viteri has over 18 years of banking experience. She began her career in 1989 at SunTrust where she attained most of her financial institution experience. She joined Coral Gables Trust in February 2014 and previous to that she worked at Gibraltar Private Bank and Trust in the Wealth Management Division as a Trust Associate. She graduated from Barry University in 1996 with a Bachelors in Business Management. In 2012, she completed trust school with the Florida Bankers Association. Michelle resides with her husband and two kids in Miami, Florida.


Dominique Alexander, CPA - Vice President, Controller

Dominique Alexander joined Coral Gables Trust in June 2014 after working in Public Accounting for three years preparing and auditing financial statements for various Financial Institutions in South Florida. She graduated from Florida Atlantic University in December 2012 with a Master’s degree in Accounting. In February 2015, she received her Certified Public Account (CPA) license for the state of Florida and will begin Trust School July 2015.She loves to volunteer on feeding the homeless and is currently a board member for Marvin McCalla Ministries. Dominique resides in Coconut Creek, Florida.


 

Nelson Hernandez - Wealth Advisor, Investment Associate

Nelson Hernandez joined Coral Gables Trust in 2016 after working in Wells Fargo Private Bank as an associate / analyst in the high net worth segment of the private bank.  Prior to that, he was an elected official in the Town of Miami Lakes, serving as a Town Council member from 2010 - 2013.  Nelson is also a Florida gubernatorial appointee to the South Florida Regional Council where he reviews development and growth plans in South Florida. He was also appointed by the Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners to serve on the Housing Finance Authority of Miami-Dade County where they arrange for special affordable housing financing in Miami-Dade County.  He also has experience in working for a boutique commercial real estate brokerage firm in Miami as their financial analyst; arranging finance packages for high net worth individuals and accredited investors.  Very involved in the community, Nelson is a member of the United Way of Miami-Dade County Young Leaders Society, The Coral Gables Community Foundation – Merrick Society, and regularly volunteers in events throughout the community.  While in college, he worked in the Florida Legislature as a health care policy analyst intern for the Miami-Dade County Delegation. Nelson holds his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Political Science from Florida State University.  He also earned his Master in Business Administration degree from the University of Miami, focusing in finance and accounting.


Yuly Lopez - Receptionist

Yuly has over 8 years of experience providing administrative support. She is a graduate from George Brown College in Ontario, Canada. She enjoys helping with day-to-day operations, assisting clients, and working with the Coral Gables Trust Team.
